No One Is Illegal
Support immigrant and refugee communities through legal aid, know-your-rights education, sanctuary work, and civic integration.
Why this portfolio works
Democracy is strongest when it includes everyone who calls a place home. Yet immigrant and refugee communities often face aggressive enforcement, uncertain legal status, language barriers, workplace exploitation, and fear that keeps people away from the civic and public services they need. This portfolio backs organizations that provide legal representation, run know-your-rights trainings, support sanctuary and rapid-response networks, help families stay together, and build civic participation among immigrant communities. These groups affirm a simple truth: no one is illegal in the place they live, work, and raise their children.
Defending immigrant communities takes more than one kind of organization. This portfolio combines direct legal representation, detention defense, youth-led advocacy, statewide community organizing, and family accompaniment — so organizations working at different points in the system reinforce one another.
